A Presidents Day To-Do

By on in

On the third Monday of February, we observe Presidents Day.  This year, that falls on February 18th…today!  Many of us have the day off work or school.  How do you plan on observing this national holiday?

Maybe you slept in or enjoyed a yummy cup of coffee over a good book (or your favorite blogs!).  Maybe you’ll tackle all those chores that have been building up.  Maybe you’ll spend the day getting caught up on all those episodes of Downton Abbey you missed.  Maybe you’ll take advantage of all the sales and spend the day doing some retail therapy.  Or, maybe, you’re stuck heading into the office.

However you plan to spend your day, could you spare 10-15 minutes?

On your way to or from today’s adventure, whether that’s the mall or the office, can you stop at a nearby church or adoration chapel to spend some moments in quiet prayer with Jesus?  Can you find some quiet time to sit and intercede for our leaders, especially our President?

We can make this holiday a holy day too.

Prayer for Government Leaders

+ God of power and might, wisdom and justice,
through you authority is rightly administered,
laws are enacted, and judgment is decreed.
Assist with your spirit of counsel and fortitude
the President and other government leaders of these United
States.
May they always seek
the ways of righteousness, justice and mercy.
Grant that they may be enabled by your powerful protection
to lead our country with honesty and integrity.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen. +
