Porta Fidei

Two years ago, Pope Benedict first announced a celebration of a Year of Faith.  Set to launch on October 11, 2012, Pope Benedict intended that this year would help all Catholics “to rediscover the journey of faith so as to shed ever clearer light on the joy and renewed enthusiasm of the encounter with Christ.”

Today, we are more than 365 days into the Year of Faith, with only a little more than a month left.  This year have provided all of us with countless opportunities to grow in our faith.  Whether you have taken a pilgrimage to Rome to see the Holy Father or began reading the Catechism, we hope this year has given you a renewed enthusiasm for your faith; and, that the remaining days will continue to inspire you.

As we look back on the past year, we invite you to remind yourself about how this Year of Faith came to be.  Read Pope Benedict’s apostolic letter, Porta Fidei calling the Year of Faith and watch the video of his announcement.  May your faith continue to blossom and grow in the remaining days of this Year of Faith.  Our prayers are with you.

Editor’s Note: During the month of November, as we celebrate the final days of the Year of Faith, we’d like to feature stories from YOU about the blessings and fruits you’ve experienced during this year.  How did you celebrate?  What did you do to grow in faith?  How did your relationship with Christ and His Church deepen?
Send us your stories and reflections to myyearoffaith@gmail.com along with your contact information, and your reflection could be featured here on the blog in November!
Submissions should be under 500 words; deadline for submissions is October 31st.
