Editor's Note: During the month of November, as the Year of Faith draws to a close, we will be celebrating all the fruits of this year. Each day we will feature a short reflection from Catholics all over the country and world, sharing what God has done. If you want to share your own fruits with us, email us a short reflection (no more than 500 words, please) to email@example.com. We'd love to hear how God has blessed you and deepened your faith this year!
We celebrated the Year of Faith and grew in our faith in many ways this year: participation in a parish retreat, committing to an hour per week at the perpetual adoration chapel and to the Sacrament of Reconciliation every month (at a minimum!).
Our relationship with Christ and His Church has deepened through increased communication in prayer, and increased attention in participation in the Mass and sacraments. We have witnessed the beauty of a child’s prayer, teaching and listening to our 2 year old daughter say her prayers at bedtime and meal time. We have celebrated the lives of family and friends that went to their eternal home this year. We have celebrated vocations as a friend was ordained a priest and other friends have answered the call to married life.
God has blessed our family with new life, as well. We eagerly await the birth of our second child in January.
Through this year, what stands out the most to us, is the clear, consistent call to be Disciples of Christ. Most likely, it is because we’ve started to listen more carefully and increase our communication with God, but it is undoubtedly a call for all of us.
